Monday Night - Boot Camp - Benfield 6;30pm

''The greatest difference between higher and lower standard footballers is their fitness''.

This was a quote from last years 4th team manger Ali Dewar - and hes spot on. When asked how we can improve the over riding answer was  improve fitness of our players.
We aim to improve and this means get players fitter and able to play at a higher level. The fitness levels of players in the 1st team are higher than last - its no surprise that we have won more games, and got more points already than the whole of last year.

I am expecting a better turn out from all teams for Monday fitness sessions. Its a mindset that we need to work on. Fitness training is a means to an end - the hardest thing is turn up.

Thanks to Chris who has been running the sessions and Lenny too who has offered to run some sessions ensuring that we have variety.

Club coaching philosophy

At Chemfica coaching is at the core of the club. We want willing players. Players that want to both attend training and apply themselves whilst there. These players do and will improve and will come out in top. That is what consistent training does.

Of course there are many players out there who are able to play at our level without training and indeed do play at our level - our club is not for them.

The core themes are:

Emphasis must be on enjoying the games and training rather than just winning. Long term this breeds success.

Encourage an environment where people are not scared of playing and challenging themselves at higher levels. We should not fear failure when challenging ourselves.

Our focus will be in self and team improvement - the winning will follow as it has before for us.

We want to develop and work with good people.

Is winning the only thing that counts?

Yesterdays performance was decent in the first half. It was a fairly even game but they scored twice with goals that we should not be happy with. The first goal, their strikers paired up for some good interplay but we had plenty of opportunities to block their route to goal by covering behind each other and also to put a tackle in. Several passes were made without anyone impacting the ball. We can improve and need to improve if this defending.

The second goal came with us in a good attacking position Only to give an unforced error and pass straight to them. One long ball caught us out letting the guy shoot. Our gk failed to hold the ball and their striker followed up sharper than our defenders.

Immediately into the second half we were done again by a long ball with an excellent finish by their centre forward. A top class finish in fact.

After that we put the White flag up - it was not only game over but we witnessed a real collapse of effort from too many players.

Craggy in goals had a number of 3 or 4 of their players onto 1 and did excellently well by stopping a number of certain goals and a totally devastating result.

There is no doubt winning a game is more enjoyable than losing and winning is always our aim - unfortunately you can not win every game and when you. If you move into a higher level you need to up your game or be prepared for a hard time.

By trying your best, keep learning and training then gaps can be closed.

Going through the motions will not close the gap. Those that want and are prepared to stick in will get their pleasure from improvement , more points, more wins and eventual promotion. That day will be satisfying for those involved.

Judging by Saturdays efforts a number of players will not be there to enjoy that success - not because of ability but because of the attitude of throwing in the towell when one is nit winning. We need strong characters with a bit of steel who can look beyond one game.

It's not easy but anything worth having has been worked for.
