County cup games and Tynside Amateur Cup games can be played on 3g pitches.
Northern Alliance games are not permitted to be played on these surfaces.
It may be argued that the benefits of playing games on these pitches is that the surfaces are more consistant than the varying standards of grass pitches that we play on every week, games are less likley to be called off due to being waterlogged and most 3g pitches have the added facility of having floodlights.
The latter point meaning that midweek games could be played through out the year rather than waiting till the last few months in the season where a number of clubs end up cramming in too many fixtures in too short a time period.
